So, a friend of mine was telling a story about a job interview and he said that the CEO of the company called him to follow up and I asked, “what did HE say?” to which my friend responded, “SHE said what do I have to do to get you to accept this position?” 🙈😔🤦🏽♀️
Why would I assume that the CEO was a man?! Grr. That makes me so sad that the messaging is so ingrained that I didn’t even reflect on my value of inclusion before I thought it and articulated the question.
As GIJoe used to say when I was a kid (yes, I’m showing my age) “knowing is half that battle”. Now that I am more aware of this mental model I have been socialized into I can intentionally work to undo it.
Everyone has the potential to lead (and follow)!
