Encouraging Growth Through Movement

We are Afro-Caribbean Dance Educators who teach Salsa (On1 & On2) & Bachata (Traditional & Sensual) with intention, culture, and joy.
We are known for creating engaging, encouraging classes where every dancer feels supported AND breaking down movement in ways that truly help people understand and grow.
Our Teaching Approach
We are Afro-Caribbean university educators with over a decade of experience, creating inclusive, community-centered dance spaces where people feel supported as they learn and grow.
Our approach is intentionally people-centered. We meet you where you are, adapt to different learning styles, and create a space where you can grow without pressure.
You won’t just learn steps.
You’ll build confidence, understand the “why,” and have fun doing it!

Our Teaching Framework

Welcoming Environment – You’ll learn in a supportive, culturally rich space led through clear instruction, uplifting energy, and step-by-step guidance.
Foundations + Flow – Learn footwork, rhythm, timing, partner connection, and styling that help you shine on the social dance floor.
Expression – Explore smooth turns, body movement, partner work, and styling to elevate your dance experience.
Connection – Classes emphasize both leadership and followership as shared skills drawing from the beauty of Latin partnered dance.
Dance of Leadership is our embodied teaching approach to Salsa and Bachata.
It uses partnered movement to develop confidence, communication, and connection; helping dancers understand not just what to do, but how to feel comfortable, responsive, and present with a partner.
Instead of memorizing steps, you learn how to:
- listen through movement
- lead and follow with clarity
- connect with a partner in real time
- build confidence in social dance settings
This approach helps you become not just a better dancer; but a more connected and confident one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What to Bring?
A willingness to learn, laugh, and connect!
Comfortable clothing
Leather-soled shoes or smooth-soled shoes
Water
Do I need any dance experience to attend?
Not at all! Our classes are designed especially for beginners. If you think you have “two left feet,” you’re in the right place. We teach step-by-step, make it fun, and support you the whole way.
Do I need to bring a dance partner?
No partner needed! Gerard and Shauna both lead and follow, so you’ll always have support during your lesson. You’re also welcome to bring a partner at no additional cost.
What should I wear? / Do I need special shoes?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Smooth-soled or leather-soled shoes work great. No heels or dance shoes required. Try to avoid rubber soles or flip-flops.
Is this a welcoming space for all identities?
Absolutely. Respect, consent, and mutual care are central to how we teach and move together. We create inclusive spaces for all identities, bodies, expressions, and backgrounds. In our teaching, dance roles are not tied to gender or gender expression. You are free to dance in whatever role feels right to you (lead and/or follow).
What if I feel nervous or shy about dancing?
You’re not alone. Many of our students start out feeling unsure. We create a warm, judgment-free environment where learning feels joyful, supportive, and fun.
My partner dances, but I don’t. Can we take a private lesson together?
Absolutely. Mixed-experience couples are welcome in private lessons. We tailor each session so both partners feel supported, whether you’re brand new or more experienced. Our goal is to meet you where you are and help you both grow together through movement, connection, and musicality.
