Rooted in Stories. Inked for Impact.

Palm & Ink Press is an independent publishing imprint dedicated to books that help readers grow through change, challenge, and the seasons of a life well-lived.

We publish leadership and resilience titles for adults alongside a growing collection of children’s books, united by a single belief: the right story, at the right moment, can help a person find their footing and reach toward the light.

Our Name

Our name draws from two enduring symbols:

The palm (inspired by the Barbados Silver Palm) stands for resilience, heritage, and the capacity to bend without breaking.

The ink is the mark we leave: stories committed to the page, meant to outlast the moment that made them.

Together, Palm & Ink reflects what we publish: work that is grounded in roots and built to endure.

What We Publish

Palm & Ink Press publishes across two connected streams:

Books for leaders and lifelong learners – leadership, resilience, and personal growth titles for those navigating transition, building their capacity to lead, and supporting others doing the same.

Books for young readers – illustrated stories that plant early lessons in resilience, belonging, and self-discovery, written to be returned to as children grow.

What ties our list together is a throughline of growth: every Palm & Ink book, whether for a five-year-old or a seasoned leader, is about putting down roots and rising.

The Resilience Tree™ Stories

Our flagship children’s collection follows a cast of characters who each embody a part of what helps us weather life’s storms; Roots that nourish us, Branches that support us, Fruit that we thoughtfully decide when and how to share with others, and the Ecosystem that shapes the conditions where we can thrive. The books are illustrated by Alla Gerzon.

Target Audience: Children ages 4 – 8, and the parents, caregivers, and educators who read with them.

  • Ruby’s Wonderful Roots: Growing Resilience from Within
  • Ben’s Reliable Branches: Growing Resilience from the Support Around Us
  • Fern’s Giving Fruit: Growing Resilience Through Knowing When to Share
  • Ember’s Thriving Ecosystem: Growing Resilience from the Worlds Around Us

For Leaders and Those Who Support Them

Palm & Ink Press also publishes resilience and leadership work for adult readers.

The Resilience Tree: A Model for Women Leaders of Color and Those Who Support Them (2025) – The foundational work behind the imprint’s name and philosophy, available in print and as an audiobook.

It introduces the Resilience Tree™ Model, Roots, Branches, Fruit, and Ecosystem, as a framework for navigating growth, change, and transition.

Our Founder

Palm & Ink Press was founded by Dr. Shauna T. Sobers, a leadership facilitator, coach, and author whose work centers on resilience, growth, and helping people navigate transition.

Originally from Barbados and now based in Texas, Dr. Sobers created the imprint to bring the stories and lessons from her resilience research, strengths coaching, and leadership development work to readers of every age.

She publishes her own titles under Palm & Ink Press and is building the imprint as a lasting home for books that help readers of all ages grow.
