Your CliftonStrengths® Top 5 report is the foundational document from Gallup; it reveals your five most dominant themes, explains what each one means, and shows how they uniquely show up in your life. If you took the assessment, this report is yours. Many people just don’t realize it’s waiting for them.
First: Go Get Your Report
Here’s the thing a lot of people miss—your full report lives in your Gallup account, and you have to log back in to see it. Taking the assessment isn’t the same as downloading what it produced.
- Log back in at Gallup Access using the same account you used to take the assessment.
- Or download the Gallup Access app (get it here) and sign in there—many people find the app the easiest way to keep their results handy.
- Look for your CliftonStrengths reports once you’re signed in. Your Top 5 report is there, along with articles, videos, and learning tools built around your specific themes.
If you can’t remember whether you have an account, you almost certainly do if you’ve taken the assessment—use the “forgot password” option rather than starting over.
What’s Inside Your Report
Your Top 5 report walks through each of your dominant themes with:
- What the theme is – a clear definition of the talent itself.
- Why yours is unique – personalized insights generated from your own assessment responses, so the language describes you, not the theme in general.
- How it blends with your other top themes – because your strengths don’t work in isolation; they combine in ways that are distinctly yours.
- How to apply it to succeed – concrete action items for putting each theme to work.
Understanding the Domains
Each of the 34 CliftonStrengths falls into one of four domains, and they’re color-coded in your report:
- Executing – themes that help you make things happen.
- Influencing – themes that help you take charge, speak up, and make sure others are heard.
- Relationship Building – themes that help you build strong relationships that hold a team together.
- Strategic Thinking – themes that help you absorb and analyze information for better decisions.
Notice which domains your top five cluster in; it tells you a lot about how you naturally contribute.
Name It, Claim It, Aim It
A simple way to go deeper with each of your top five:
- Name It – Pick one strength and list the words or phrases in the report that resonate most strongly with you.
- Claim It – Recall when this strength helped you succeed in the past, and how it helps you in your current role.
- Aim It – Choose two ways you could start using this strength more intentionally right away. (The action items in your report are a great source of ideas.)
Reflect As You Read
As you go through your report, consider:
- What did you read that inspires or excites you?
- What surprised you; or challenged how you see yourself?
- Which themes feel most true to how you show up every day?
